The Way of Water
An evocative drone performance at Forte Marghera, Venice
The European Cultural Centre Italy and the Institute for Dynamical Systems and Control (IDSC) at ETH Zurich present The Way of Water, an aquatic performance at Casermetta Est di Forte Marghera, Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, premiering as a continuation of their project in Time Space Existence 2025.
On 12, 13, and 14 December at 17:00 and 18:00, visitors will witness an evocative performance: autonomous surface vehicles executing music-synchronised choreographies across the water, illuminated by onboard lights and accompanied by refined water effects.
Developed under the direction of Prof. Raffaello D’Andrea, the project transforms advanced robotics and control theory into a public performance, while contributing to research in multi-agent systems and environmentally safe aquatic technologies. The premiere follows the documentary A Story About Playful Curiosity, shown at Palazzo Mora earlier this year, which offered a first look at the rovers in motion. Each unit is fully electric, reusable, and designed to ensure safety for wildlife, boats, and spectators.
Admission is free and open to the public. We look forward to welcoming you there!
