Young Talent Architecture Award 2020 – Awards Ceremony and Debates

The European Cultural Centre is pleased to host the Young Talent Architecture Award presented by the Mies van der Rohe Foundation, official collateral event of La Biennale di Venezia.

The Awards Ceremony of Young Talent Architecture Award (YTAA) will be celebrated on 28th September 2021 with a hybrid format online and at Palazzo Michiel in Venice. The award that brings together the best graduation projects from European architecture, urban planning and landscape schools was enriched in this third edition with a parallel Award in Asia. The 4 Winners of YTAA 2020 and the 3 Winners of the Asian edition of YTAA 2020, announced on 5th October 2020 (see the press release here), will have the opportunity to receive the Award, meet and debate together with jury members, organisers and event partners in the stimulating setting of the Venice Biennale.

“On behalf of Commissioner Gabriel who could not be with us today, let me say a few words. First on architecture, a considerable force. The spaces in which we live shape our lives. They determine how we connect to each other as well as how we connect to the nature. As we work to change society for the better, addressing climate change, promoting inclusion
and well-being, architecture is fundamental. [...] The Young Talent Architecture Award – co-funded by our Creative Europe Programme - recognises this, and more importantly - it puts young people as an integral part in this process. We need young talents like you! The Award enables your ideas to shape the Europe we want to live in. - Mr. Guglielmo di Cola,
Member of Cabinet of the EU Commissioner for Research, Innovation, Education, Culture and Youth, European Commission."

Within the framework of the 17th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, How will we live together? the Awards Ceremony was preceded by two debates focusing on “Educating together” and “New European Bauhaus: How will we live together?” two key themes in relation to education and how to rethink Europe which prioritises the environment through a cultural project in which design and sustainability are indissociable.
