The Dept. of Explorative Architecture (Faculty of Architecture, Budapest University of Technology and Economics) is dedicated to promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and research-based design in architectural education, and to integrate projects in its courses that address global problems such as the housing and food crisis of the Global South, heritage protection initiatives in conflict zones and seismically active areas and the abandonment of rural areas. We encourage environmentally and locally conscious design. Active site projects are ongoing in Romania (Mikháza), Syria (Crac des Chevaliers) and Egypt (Luxor West Bank).
