Diversity in Architecture

Diversity in Architecture (DIVIA), founded in 2021 by Dr. Ursula Schwitalla, seeks to increase visibility for women in architecture through the international DIVIA Award. Despite progress, women remain underrepresented in the field, with a ratio of 20% women to 80% men. “We created the DIVIA Award to celebrate the achievements of women in architecture,” says Ursula Schwitalla. By showcasing their work, DIVIA provides role models for future generations. The inaugural 2023 award honoured Marta Maccaglia for her community projects in Peru’s jungle. The winner of the second edition will be announced on 10 May 2025 at ECC, Palazzo Mora, Venice.
