Beauty, stillness and mystery; those are words that are reminiscent of the works of photographer Jacobien de Korte (1969).These concepts are abstract and elusive, yet recognizable to every human being to a greater or lesser extent. With her work, De Korte tries to focus on this mutual recognizability in order to offer the viewer guidance, comfort and understanding. In addition, her background in graphic design and love for architecture play a major role in the photographer’s work. De Korte studied Graphic Design at the Willem de Kooning Academy for the Visual Arts in Rotterdam and lives and works in The Hague as well in the middle of the Netherlands.
