The University of Coburg excels in all fields of applied sciences, including humanities, engineering, as well as social and natural sciences. The University is well-known in the field of design, with undergraduate courses in architecture, interior design, integrated product design, and civil and structural engineering. It has an established interdisciplinary master’s degree in design and master’s level courses in preservation of historical monuments, in cooperation with the University of Bamberg. The School of Design´s curriculum focuses on sustainable development and expansion, including recycling, and reuse of existing buildings. One of the focal points of the Department of Architecture is building with simple construction methods and optimal use of renewable resources such as wood.
