Circle4Change: a Tree on the Move
Join Bruno Doedens for the presentation of Circle4Change, a visionary European social landscape project promoting harmony with Earth, followed by the screening of The Walking Forest documentary
Land Artist Bruno Doedens will present Circle4Change, an initiative envisioned as a multi-year European social landscape artwork designed to connect and inspire a symbiotic world in harmony with Earth, fostering long-term thinking and serving as a “good ancestor”. The project will draw a circular line through nine European countries, acting as a magnet for initiatives that demonstrate enriching, rather than burdening, the planet. Through collaboration with local communities, organisations, artists, municipalities, and businesses, this magical circular line will become a platform and laboratory for renewal and connection, evolving into a contemporary long-distance walking and cycling route with a positive message, celebrating diversity and envisioning the Symbiocene.
Following the presentation, the audience will have the opportunity to watch The Walking Forest, a documentary telling the story of Bosk, a land art project that brought over a thousand trees into the Dutch city of Leeuwarden (Friesland), and leaving an important mark on the lives of its citizens. For 100 days, the city transformed into a magical moving forest, with residents witnessing the beauty and power of nature in their own backyard. The film explores the impact this unexpected oasis had on people’s lives and how collective effort can reinvigorate a city by taking steps towards a more sustainable world.
The Bicycling Tree: A Symbol of Action
In April 2025, the first major activity of Circle4Change will begin: a tree will cycle across Europe for five months. This adventure introduces a special ritual: “Plant a tree on your birthday.” Birthday trees are distributed in communities along the circle line. Thus, new forests are created, with trees that recall the power of nature and community. The cycling tree is not only a symbol of change, but also a call to action. By planting trees, we bring nature closer to ourselves, our cities and our neighbours.
The mission of Circle4Change is to connect the new generation with nature. The aim is to let children and young people experience in a playful way what trees, biodiversity and a healthy earth mean to us. Nature education is integrated into everyday life and education, so that together we learn how fun and natural it is to take care of the environment.

About Bruno Doedens
Landscape artist Bruno Doedens experiments with the reciprocal relationship between art, people and landscape. How art and culture can enrich and distort landscapes and the natural processes that are always in motion. His new, often temporary landscapes amaze, surprise and wonder. The audience is participant and spectator at the same time, nature is co-designer. And always it is big and many, like the landscape itself.
