LARA SWIMMER Photography


LARA SWIMMER is an American photographer whose practice is rooted in documentary film and urban storytelling. Working with available light, Lara creates images that engage the human element, imbuing her photographs with a sense of scale and movement. Her subjects span civic, cultural spaces to public libraries and social housing.
Her work has been published in Architectural Record, New York Times, Dwell, Wallpaper*, and Metropolis. She’s contributed to numerous books, notably, READING ROOM, New and Reimagined Libraries of the American West. Lara exhibited in the 6th Time Space Existence 2023 biennial show in Venice. She was invited by the Embassy of the UAE to an architecture delegation in 2019. Lara was listed in ArchDaily’s 12 Women in Architecture Photography in 2018, and was included in Beyond the Assignment, with the Julius Shulman Institute in Hollywood in 2014.
