SAKO Architects

After completing graduate studies at Tokyo Institute of Technology and working at Riken Yamamoto & Field Shop, Keiichiro Sako established SAKO Architects in Beijing in 2004—the first Japanese-founded architectural firm in China. The office now also operates in Tokyo and Fukuoka, handling projects primarily in Japan and China, as well as in South Korea, Mongolia, and Spain. To date, more than 160 projects have been realized, ranging from retail interiors to large-scale residential developments. Sako’s designs, praised for their originality and clear thematic focus, feature box-like compositions, organic curves, and bold color schemes. In recent years, the firm has also undertaken environmentally conscious projects, including initiatives aimed at achieving zero carbon.
